Dear Heavenly Father,

As police wives, we often find ourselves caught in the struggle between our natural desire for control and the unpredictable reality of our lives. We make plans, knowing they may change at a moment’s notice. We create routines in a lifestyle that resists predictability. This constant tension between what we want to manage and what we simply cannot control weighs heavily on our hearts.

We pray the words of the Serenity Prayer:

“Grant us the serenity to accept the things we cannot change, courage to change the things we can, and wisdom to know the difference.”

These words deeply resonate with our daily struggles.

Help us accept what we cannot change—the late-night calls, the missed family gatherings, and the constant worry that accompanies loving someone who serves and protects.

Give us courage to change what we can—our attitudes when plans fall through, how we respond to disappointment, and the way we use the time we’ve been given.

And Father, grant us the wisdom to know the difference, to discern when to release our grip on expectations and when to take positive action.

With Your guidance, we surrender our need for certainty in an uncertain lifestyle and choose instead to focus on what we can control—loving well through intentional connection when time permits, creating a haven of peace in our homes despite outside chaos, and finding joy whether together or apart, learning to embrace the unique rhythms of this calling.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
